DataStage

Difference between DataStage 7.5 and DataStage 8.0

Jobs created in DS 7.5 should migrate to 8.0 without you having to change the job design. You can do a DSX export of a job from the 7.5 system, import it on 8.0, compile it and run it, and assuming the rest of the environment it relies on is still set up, it should run without changes to the design. It is also possible to do an "in-place" upgrade of DS 7.5 projects to the 8.0 environment, by-passing the DSX export/import process...though I think in general it would be safer to run the 2 systems side-by-side if you can, until you are convinced that the 8.0 environment is running smoothly.

There are lot of diffference between datastage 8. and 7.5 and i listed some points below 1.To implement scd we have seperate stage(SCD stage) 2.we dont have client manager tool in vversion 8,its incorporated with Designer itself. 3.There is no need of hardcoding the parameters for every job and we have a option called Parameter set.if we create the parameter set,we can call the parameter set for whole project or job,sequence..
*************************
the main difference is 7.5 versions is a file system and 8.0 version has a database system under. There is no concept of Universe in 8 version onwards ..
***********************************

The main difference between DS 7.5 & 8x is in DS 7.5x the repository was Files and in DS 8x the repository is DataBase
************************
1.The look range introduced in 8.0 2.The manager is combined with Designer in 8.0 3.Parameter Set was introduced 4.Scd's are introduced in 8.0 5.Changes in Surrogate key in 8.0
